Eye of the Beholder by Kathy Herman
I found this book on the "Staff Recommended" displays. I probably would not have picked it up to read if not for this. I'm happy I did.
This is a story about current events and fears of terrorism, and the acceptance or non-acceptance of diversity in our neighborhoods, our towns and cities. It makes you question your Christian beliefs and forces you to ask yourself "who is my neighbor" and do I treat them as I wish to be treated? It also makes you question your respect and tolerance for other religions and beliefs and whether we are all aware of our own prejudices and conceits. Are we too quick to judge others based on the crazy actions of a few and where do we get the information on which we base these judgements?
Needless to say, this is a thought-provoking book, which makes you face and question your own attitudes and actions in today's world of turmoil. I highly recommend this book.
