Think you can’t dance in the Library – think again! On Saturday, July 23rd, library patrons were surprised when music began playing throughout the building, and a group of 30 teens from different areas of the library migrated to the same place and started dancing! Dancers were from the Edwardsville High School’s Pom Squad, the Edwardsville Public Library Teen Advisory Board, and Edwardsville Public Library staff. They danced to the song “Party Rock” by LMFAO, which was this year’s “So You Think You Can Dance” Television Show’s National Dance Day song and dance routine. The flash mob was a special surprise during the “Teen Read-A-Thon” event, during which teens read in the Library, ate pizza, played video games, and entered a drawing to win a flat screen TV.
The Flash Mob video, along with interviews of several local teen library users, can be viewed above.
