Author, award-winning journalist and essayist Lee Sandlin will visit the library Sunday, November 3rd at 2PM. Mr. Sandlin will read excerpts from his highly acclaimed book, The Distancers, a memoir that brings Edwardsville's past to life through the stories of his family.
One of Oprah's Fall Reading picks and highly acclaimed, the books will be available for purchase and signing.
From leesandlin.com: "From the 19th century immigrants who settled a small Midwestern farm, through the Great Depression and WWII, to the proud aunts and uncles with whom Lee Sandlin spent the summers ofhis youth, The Distancers is a starkly beautiful story in which the lost details of everyday American life - the home-brewed beer of Prohibition, rail-riding through the Dust Bown,, the forgotten summer pageants of the heartland - are recalled together with the hidden dramas of several generation of an American family".
We hope to see you!
