Classics on Audio: Part 6

Posted by Alana T.

This is the last in a six part series listing classics on audio.  The idea for the list was inspired by a description in Skymall (a catalog targeted to airline passengers), for a preloaded MP3 player with an entire library of classics - "100 of the greatest works of all time"- for $169.

The idea is a good one, but why pay when you can borrow from your library . Of course, a list featuring the best 100 of anything is subjective.  To compile an equivalent list, I searched for books on the Modern Library's List of 100 Best NovelsGoodreads Best of Classics and The Harvard Classics.  Sadly, quite a few things are not available in audio, but there is still a lot to fill your brain with great stuff.  Our sixth set of audiobooks, presented in random order:

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins
Oliver Twist Charles Dickens
The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
Lord Of the Flies by William Golding
A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving
On the Road by Jack Kerouac
The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling
Paradise Lost by John Milton
A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
