Speculative Fiction:  A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthurs’s Court by Mark Twain.  Time travel with Twain’s wit.  A 19^th century American travels back to 6^th century England in this comic social satire.

Prize-Winning Fiction:  We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson. A novel full of a macabre and sinister humor, with an amiable narrator who is one of the great unhinged heroines of literature. 

Page-Turning Non-Fiction:  A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson.  The author takes you along on his hike down the Appalachian Trail; history, ecology, and humor abound.
