Staff Picks: Children's Picture Books

We see a lot of fun picture books in the Youth Department. Here are some that have recently caught our attention.

I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry.
Perfect for preschoolers! This book has simple text, bold and delightful collage art, and a lovable squid whose spirit just cannot be crushed.




The Doghouse by Jan Thomas.
A very humorous tale of fear and friendship. Will surely tickle your funny bone.



Tyrannosaurus Wrecks by Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen.
What happens when a rambunctious dinosaur goes to school?  This book definitely appeals to kids.


This is a contemporary retelling of Aesop's fable "The Dog and his Shadow". Teaches children about sharing and cooperation.



I don't like Gloria by Kaye Umansky.
Delightful story about a puppy who has to learn to cope with a new housemate - a cat!



A hamster has it all and is satisfied until he is told about what is outside his cage. However, when he gets out, he discovers things are not how he thought they'd be.




Not Norman - A Goldfish Story by Kelly Bennett.
Can a goldfish be a perfect pet?  One little boy finds out.
