Foreign Language Resources...for Kids!

Posted by Katherine R.

Did you know that in addition to many great foreign language resources for adults, we've also got some for kids?

If you'd like to introduce a child to a foreign language with a DVD, we have a fun series called Little Pim.  We have Chinese, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic and Japanese language DVDs in this series.  This series is shelved in the Children's Library in our Non-fiction DVDs.

We also have a great selection of foreign language picture dictionary books for children.  These are written to appeal to children and use bright pictures or illustrations to introduce individual words.  Some are books are on specific topics like colors, the seasons, or numbers.  These books are shelved in the 450s - 500s in the Non-fiction section of the Children's Library.

In the 860s, we have a number of well-known, popular books that have been translated into other languages.  There are picture books for young children such as, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff. These would be great for adults to use as well as children when they are learning another language.

In addition to the foreign language picture books, there are chapter books in the 860s.  These are perfect for older children and adults who are comfortable with the foreign language.
