Try Young Adult Books - On Audio!

Posted by Alana T.

Some of our most popular audiobooks are those adapted from young adult novels.  Many are series, (lots of magic and myth), quite a few portray a dystopian future, but all are are engaging, interesting stories.  If you have a family road-trip coming up, consider one or two of these books to capture the attention of everyone in the car.  Some of the staff favorites are listed below:

The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.  In Beatrice's world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan.  Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini.  Thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance,  and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.

Matched Series by Allie Condie.  Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.  When Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder. Much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with odd markings. This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons—and keeping the odd werewolves and vampires in line.
