Staff Picks: What We Read This Summer - Part 2

Posted by Staff

We read a lot of books over the summer. Here's part 2 of what books we liked best. The first half of this list was posted a few weeks ago. Try something new today!

V for Vendetta by Alan Moore (Devin G.) Interesting analysis of the human perspective and government power.

The Magicians by Lev Grossman (Alana T.) An adult mash-up of Harry Potter and Narnia. I couldn't put it down. Well written.

Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot (Jacob D.) An interesting look at ethics in science and a heartbreaking look at poverty in America.

Girl of Fire and Thorns Trilogy by Rae Carson (Katherine R.) I love reading fantasy, especially fantasy that has unique ideas and something in them to make you think. This series has both!

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer (Megan P.) A thought-provoking true story about a young man who leaves all luxuries of everyday life and embarks on a journey, ultimately to the wilderness of Alaska.

The History of Rain by Niall Williams (Jill S.) Funny, moving, sad, and inspiring all at the same time. Beautifully written.
