Chen Cao is a “poetry quoting cop with integrity” -- an
Inspector with the Shanghai Police Bureau in the 1990s during a time when the
People’s Republic of China is making big changes.
The author won the Anthony Award for Best First Novel for
the first in this well rated series, Death of a Red Heroine (2001). Interestingly, the author, born in Shanghai,
China, currently lives in St. Louis, MO with his wife and daughter. He has published nine of these
crime-thriller/mysteries, so hours of reading pleasure await if you like the
first book!
This series was recommended to us by a patron and we look
forward to reading a new (to us) series where each book also includes insights
into Chinese cuisine, architecture, history, politics, philosophy, as well as
criminal procedure. Enjoy!
