Sometimes it’s hard to
commit to a whole TV series, and a pilot isn’t always the best indication of
how good a show can be. It’s the Halloween episodes that are always my
favorites, full of spooky fun for this time of year, and I’ve been frequently
convinced to watch a whole series based on them. If you want to change up the
way you decide on a show, or if you just want a non-committal glimpse at how
certain characters handle the ghouls and goblins of their lives, check out this
list of series with great Halloween episodes. Maybe they will sway you to watch
the whole show, or maybe you’ll skip to the tricks and treats of your own
favorite shows for a spooky marathon.
The whole series is pretty spooky, what with the vampires and all, but several of the seasons actually involve Halloween. This time of year is supposed to give Buffy a break from her slayer duties, as the “real world” vampires feel that the festivities make a mockery of them, but it turns out that she never gets a day off. In Season 2 Episode 6, Buffy & Co. are assigned by their principal to chaperone the Trick-or-Treating in Sunnydale. They visit a new costume shop in town and go out dressed up for what seems like will be a dull night. As the night proceeds, however, everyone begins to become the costume they are wearing. What’s going on and why? Watch it to find out. There are also Halloween episodes in Seasons 4 and 6 of the series.
This is another
already-creepy series with an excess of intensity, but if macabre is what you
like, then the Halloween episodes are worth watching the entire show to see,
and in Season 1, it’s a two-parter (Episodes 4 and 5). As can be derived from
the season’s title, the house is full of unruly ghosts, and on Halloween night,
they are able to leave the house and roam around as they please. It is this
occurrence and much more mischief that bring the season to its climax. If you
like this, be sure to watch the other seasons as well for more great Halloween
happenings!
Alas, there is only one
season of this amazing show. “Tricks and Treats” is Episode 3 of the series,
and in it Halloween is just not going as planned for the Weir family. Lindsey
wants to explore the rebel life with her new friends, but her mom was hoping
for more mother-and-daughter bonding like last year. Sam Weir wants one more
chance at trick-or-treating before he’s deemed too old by society. Growing up—what could be more terrifying? This
is a much more light-hearted option than those previously on the list, so watch
it to have some good laughs, feel the growing pains of yesteryear, and get some
ideas for your last-minute costume (Bionic Woman, anyone?).
Season 2 Episode 5 is the
first of the Halloween episodes in this comedy series. It’s always a riot at
the Scranton Branch of Dunder Mifflin, and that’s no exception on Halloween.
See all of the lovable employees in costume, some more elaborate than others
(Jim…).
